Liz Younglove Named the New Head Women’s Volleyball Coach
Providence Christian College proudly introduces Liz Younglove as the new head women's volleyball coach. Coach Younglove will be the third head coach in program history.
Liz Younglove played collegiately as a setter at Concordia University in Irvine, CA. During her four-year career at Concordia, Coach Younglove's women's volleyball team finished third in the NAIA two times, was the NAIA runners-up one year, and won the NAIA National Championship in an undefeated season. While attending college, she began her coaching career at Golden West Volleyball Club, the volleyball club that she played for in high school. After receiving her Master's Degree from Concordia University, Irvine, she began coaching both indoor and beach volleyball at Riverside City College and was mentored by longtime RCC coach Monica Hayes-Trainer. One of coach Younglove's greatest accomplishments as a coach was how many of her players moved on and played at four-year institutions, including Vanguard University (Beach Volleyball), Park University (Gilbert, AZ), and here at Providence Christian College as well. In 2020, she began coaching at Proplay Volleyball Club, where she currently coaches. Younglove has been coaching club volleyball for both boys and girls, ages ranging from middle school to high school, for over 12 years. Throughout her years of coaching, Coach Younglove says, "I love the impact I am able to make on the young players and am equally grateful for what they teach me each year."
When asked about what led her to Providence Christian College, Coach Younglove responded, "Honestly, I know God had a hand in this. I walked away from college coaching in 2021 and didn't think that I would ever return. But I received a phone call from a friend to coach beach volleyball at a local community college, and I realized I had walked away from something I truly loved. I then heard from another coaching friend that Providence Christian College had just opened up their women's volleyball position, and I knew I wanted to apply. My first time visiting the campus, I felt like I did when I first arrived to play at Concordia. I felt like I was home. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Providence family, and I'm looking forward to this next season and many more to come." When asked about what she looks forward to coaching at Providence Christian College, Coach Younglove answered, "I'm looking forward to being able to help my players grow on the court, in the classroom, in life, and most importantly, be part of their growth in their relationship with God. I believe God gives us all unique gifts, and we can all use those gifts to glorify Him. I'm looking forward to building lifelong relationships with my players, helping them with their transition into young adulthood, and helping them learn how to navigate in this world without getting lost in it."
Providence Christian College Interim Director of Athletics, Eddie Arnett, stated, "We are thrilled to have Coach Younglove join the Sea Beggar family and are excited to watch her pour into the lives of our young women. I am confident that Liz will elevate all aspects of this program and will lead the program well into the future, creating a God-honoring culture and competitive environment."
Please make sure to greet Coach Liz Younglove with a big Providence welcome when you see her on campus.
