A Strand of Three

The Providence Christian Women's Golf team wrapped up their fall season in style at Quail Lodge Golf Club in Carmel, CA. In the 36-hole event, all three Lady Sea Beggars improved their tournament scoring from their earlier fall performance.

Denise Litonjua (SO/Arcadia, CA) recorded a career best 77 on the final day to vault up the leaderboard into an 8th place finish. Kaitlyn Robinson (JR/Siloam Springs, AR) also moved up the leaderboard on the final day, earning a top ten finish at 10th. Kiara Paul (JR/Westminster, CA ) also improved her position on day two with her even keeled play, shooting an 88. One of the highlights of the event and round two, was the finish. On the tough par three 17th hole, the ladies all had birdie putts and finished the hole with an aggregate eight strokes of -1. Overall, the women's team improved their total number of strokes by 52 from the last event. Things are trending well for this group, and we look forward to the early optimism coming to fruition with a great spring.

When asked about her thoughts on the invitational, Litonjua said, "The first day was a little rough for me so my thoughts going into the second day were to just do better than yesterday, but I did not expect to shoot a new PR. It was very surprising, and it showed my ability as a golfer. My focus during that round was to stay calm, not overthink, and most importantly to have fun. I'm very proud of placing in the top 10 and I thank God for giving me the opportunity to play and represent our school! Coach Bowers said, "We have been working on a few things, but most specifically playing each hole and shot with a calm focus. That comes from quality practice sessions and deliberate intention of being present for the entire round. The ladies looked very present and in the moment during their rounds and this calm focus led to quality scoring. This was a solid performance, and the spring season could be another step forward for the program."

The Lady Sea Beggars return to action this spring as they begin Cal Pac Conference play. Come support the Lady Sea Beggars at a match in 2022.
